Since we have been discussing the Enlightenment and how the Enlightenment encouraged revolution in the 1700s and 1800s, you need to discover how those ideas are still encouraging revolution today. Find a recent article about a revolution somewhere in the world. It could be about the Middle East (since there is a lot to choose from), Latin America, Asia, Africa... there are so many choices!! There are even revolutions going on in Europe as well. You could discuss the debate raging in the UN right now regarding Palestinian state as well. You will post your article ON THIS PAGE (under discussion) along with a SUMMARY of what your article is about. The summary should be between 5-6 sentences in length. Then, read at least two articles/summaries posted by your fellow classmates and comment about those articles as well. YOUR FOCUS SHOULD BE ON HOW THE ENLIGHTENMENT INFLUENCED RECENT REVOLUTIONS IN THE WORLD. If you do not make mention of the Enlightenment, you will not receive credit for the assignment. Your responses should be 3-4 sentences in length.
